Between social media and the blogging world, everyone seems to have their lives together. Everyone, except me, and maybe you too.
While everyone else manages to start their morning with the perfect avocado toast plate and dashes from cab to curb in sky high heels with grace and ease, I’m running down the street munching a rice cake in flats, heels in bag until the last possible moments.
Every morning and moment isn’t made for Instagram, friends.
We should all be aiming to maintain happy, healthy and balanced lifestyles. Easy access to how everyone else lives, no matter how much we try to deny or fight against the grain, puts us at a major disadvantage. We think that well balanced lives equate to perfect lives.
Balance does not mean perfect!
And more importantly, balance does not look the same for everyone. For me, balance sometimes looks like walking home from work to make up for the fact that I’ve been ordering takeout nonstop. Or sliding the iPad under my pillow and grabbing a book since I’ve already stayed up past my bedtime.
You can live a healthy and balanced lifestyle without taking a cult spin class, suffering through that salad you hate or convincing yourself you want coconut milk in your coffee because #superfood.
Balance in real life might look like plotting every detail of the week down in your planner only to nix it all for a spontaneous date night or happy hour with friends.
Some mornings, I wake up early, get a jump start on the day’s work; pick out a great outfit and even do a face mask during the process. Other morning’s I sleep in, pour my coffee into a travel mug, toss those heals and a yogurt in a bag and head out the door.
