If you’re a regular, or even a semi-regular, around these parts, you know that in the few weeks that have passed in 2014, this blog has already had two design revamps. People tell me all the time how lucky I am to be able to design and brand my own blog. What they don’t know is that I’m always looking for ways to make things more functional, professional and enjoyable around these parts. So it should come as no surprise that, even after two designs (both of which I loved, by the way) another design is on the way.
At first I thought I was having a bad case of design ADD. I thought I was just becoming bored with my designs, maybe they weren’t complex or interesting enough. And if they weren’t holding my attention, I thought, there is no way they were holding the attention of my readers.
After stepping away from Photoshop for a minute, I was able to really see what the issue was: my brand. I wasn’t allowing my brand to shine through the designs. If anything, it was being lost in them and becoming rather ambiguous. So, I created a brand board to help me really focus on the heart of my brand, and how that should translate into a design for the blog.
The And Yes To Joy brand is so incredibly special to me. When I made the decision back in October to rebrand and relaunch, I did it with set goals in mind. This brand was the launching pad to a few different things I wanted to venture out to in the years to come. But the thing about brands are, they have to change every once in a while. As I change, and as the world around me changes, this blog will change and so will this brand.
I’m so excited to have taken the time to refresh my memory a bit as to the original purpose of this brand. I’m excited to share the results of all of this behind the scenes work with all of you.
Do you need a brand board like the once I created above to help you figure out a best possible direction for your blog, brand or business? Email me, and let’s work together! I’d love to help you out!
